Raising Awareness-dream's Film and Speaker Series

The Boys of Baraka Co-presented this season by business and community sponsors, Raising Awareness presents a series of film and guest speakers running from October to May at Dunnville Secondary School.

On film nights, dream presents a social justice, community awareness, or life-planning film. On speaker nights, dream presents an engaging guest speaker or an eclectic panel of guests ranging from published authors and social activists to civically responsible members of the community.

Fair trade refreshments and opportunities for audience members to exchange ideas in a relaxed setting follow each presentation.

Raising Awareness is not just about gathering a group of students and adults to watch a film or listen to an author for an hour or two; it's about the discussions that follow, both in the hour dream facilitates following each presentation, and in the street, the local dentist office, or the corner grocery store for the months that  follow. dream wants to get the community talking about issues. It would be absurd for dream to promote a youth mentorship program about raising self, community and social awareness, if we, as a town, didn't set an example for youth, didn't do something to raise our own awareness as a community.
